Mt. Kilimanjaro students have began their training hikes with hikes on the Diez Vistas Trail and part of the Baden Powell Trail. We are making these hikes available to interested individuals who would love to come out and support the youth on the hikes. We now have completed two of our seven training hikes for the summer. This time around we hiked the 13 km Diez Vistas Trail from Buntzen Lake recreation area. On Sunday, July 6th fifteen students attended their first Mt. Kilimanjaro training hike. We hiked the 13 km’s from Deep Cove to Lynn Canyon along the Baden Powell Trail. Despite the rain falling the first half of our hike the temperature was warm and the spirits were high. Not only was it an opportunity to meet up as a Kilimanjaro team and hike together towards our common goal it was also a chance to get out on the trail and continue to build our excitement for our epic trip in 2015. Today Streetfront Alternative had a table at Car-free Day on Commercial Drive. We received some donations and spoke to many wonderful people who seemed genuinely interested in our Stree2Peak Project: Mt. Kilimanjaro Trek.
